Position Summary
The Foreman Metal Work is responsible for supervising metal fabrication, structural steel, and mechanical installation crews on active job sites, ensuring all work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company standards and client requirements. This role provides direct leadership in the field, coordinating daily tasks, crew performance, and job execution related to metal and structural work.
The Foreman serves as the primary point of contact between field crews and upper management, ensuring productivity, safety compliance, and quality control across assigned metal work projects, including structural installations, fittings, and field modifications.

Key Responsibilities
- Supervise Metal crew on daily job site activities and ensure all work is performed safely and efficiently.
- Plan and direct structural steel installation, fabrication fit-up, welding coordination, and field modifications as required.
- Ensure all metal work is completed in compliance with OSHA standards, company policies, and client specifications.
- Conduct daily job site hazard assessments and enforce strict safety practices.
- Lead toolbox talks and communicates safety expectations to all crew members.
- Coordinate manpower, tools, and materials needed for assigned scaffold work.
- Inspect structural installations, welds, and fit ups to ensure quality, alignment, and compliance with project standards.
- Communicate daily progress, delays, and jobsite issues to General Foreman or Superintendent.
- Ensure crew productivity and quality standards are met on all assignments.
- Train and mentor helpers and less experienced workers in proper metal work and safe field practices.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at all times.
- Immediately correct unsafe acts or conditions on the jobsite.
- Ensure all work meets client specifications and company expectations.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in structural steel, metal fabrication, welding coordination, or related industrial metal work.
- Minimum 2+ years in a leadership role (Leadman, Crew Leader, or Foreman) within structural steel, metal fabrication, or industrial construction work.
- Proven ability to lead and manage a crew in the field.
- Strong knowledge of structural steel installation, fabrication fit-up, welding processes, and metal work safety standards.
- Solid understanding of OSHA safety standards and fall protection requirements.
- Experience supervising crews performing structural steel erection, pipe supports, platforms, and field metal installations in industrial environments.
- Ability to read, interpret, and follow job scopes, safety plans, and basic construction drawings and instructions.
- Strong leadership, communication, decision making skills and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.
- Valid driverโs license (required).
- OSHA 30 Certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
- TWIC Card.
- NCCER Certification or equivalent (preferred or willingness to obtain).
- Basic Plus.
- Employment Authorization Document (EAD) if required.
Preferred Experience
- Industrial structural steel, metal fabrication, welding coordination, or mechanical steel work in refineries, plants, or construction sites.
- Multi-craft coordination experience.
- Experience working with steel structures, elevated installations, and complex field fit up work.
- Experience in structural turnaround, shutdown, or maintenance projects involving steel erection or metal installations.
- Experience with structural steel installation, pipe supports, platforms, and field metal fitting coordination.
- Large industrial site supervision.

Work Condition & Physical Requirement
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The Foreman Metal Work works primarily in field environments with occasional coordination duties. This position requires continuous presence on active job sites including construction sites, refineries, plants, shutdowns, maintenance projects, and industrial fabrication or structural steel installation areas, including welding and metal work operations.
JOBSITE EXPOSURE: Work conditions may include exposure to outdoor weather, extreme temperatures, loud noise, heavy equipment, elevated work areas, steel fabrication activities, cutting, welding, grinding, hot work operations, sparks, and metal handling. Work may also take place in active construction or industrial installation zones. Exposure to hot work permit environments and fire watch conditions may be required when applicable.
SCHEDULE DEMANDS: This position may require long hours, early starts, overtime, shutdown schedules, and occasional weekend work depending on project demands, operational priorities, and travel may also be required.
LEADERSHIP DEMAND: Physically and mentally demanding role requiring strong leadership, decision-making, and the ability to manage crews and maintain productivity in a fast-paced environment.
ORIENTATION: Must be able to successfully complete all required Resilience Corp LLC and client site-specific orientation, safety training, and compliance requirements before beginning work.
HEAVY WORK: Must be able to safely lift up to 50 pounds from floor to waist and up to 35 pounds from waist to above shoulder level on a regular basis.
CLIMBING: Must be capable of ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, and elevated structures, including heights exceeding 100 feet, while maintaining three-point contact and following all fall protection procedures.
LADDERS: Using vertical ladders frequently up to 100 feet Activity may exist up to 60% of the work shift depending on project scope.
STAIRS & RAMPS: Using stairs or ramps occasionally up to 100 feet Activity may exist up to 40% of the work shift depending on site conditions.
BALANCING: Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling while walking, standing, crouching, or working on elevated or unprotected surfaces while using required fall protection equipment. Frequently Activity may exist up to 60% of the work shift.
STOOPING: Bending body downward and forward by bending at the waist, requiring full use of leg and back muscles on a repetitive basis. Frequently Activity may exist up to 60% of the work shift.
KNEELING: Bending legs at the knee to come to rest on one or both knees. Occasionally Activity may exist up to 40% of the work shift.
CROUCHING: Bending the body downward and forward by bending legs and waist. Frequently Activity may exist up to 60% of the work shift.
REACHING: Extending hands and arms in all directions to handle materials, tools, or equipment safely. Frequently Activity may exist up to 60% of the work shift.
GRIPPING: Seizing, holding, grasping, turning, and otherwise working with hands and fingers to safely handle tools, equipment, and materials. Frequently Activity may exist up to 60% of the work shift.
VISION: Must have adequate vision, with or without corrective lenses, to safely perform job duties, recognize hazards, read site documentation, and maintain compliance with all safety standards.
HEARING: Must have adequate hearing, with or without hearing assistance, to communicate effectively, recognize warning signals, and respond to instructions in active industrial environments.
WEATHER EXPOSURE: Must be able to work outdoors in varying atmospheric conditions, including extreme heat, cold, humidity, wind, and changing weather. Exposure may exist for extended portions of the work shift.
PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT: Must be able to properly wear and use all required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, respirators, hearing protection, welding shields, flame-resistant clothing, welding gloves, and other hot work PPE required for metal fabrication tasks, as well as fall protection equipment for extended periods throughout the work shift.
