Position Summary: The Leadman Paint is responsible for assisting in the supervision of painting crews on active job sites, ensuring all work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company standards and client requirements. This role provides hands-on leadership in the field, supporting daily tasks, crew coordination, surface preparation, coating application, and finishing activities under the direction of the Foreman.

The Leadman serves as a key link between the Foreman and field crew members, ensuring productivity, safety compliance, and quality standards are maintained across assigned painting activities, including surface preparation, coating application, touch-ups, and final finishing work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in supervising Scaffold & painting crew on daily jobsite activities and ensure all work is performed safely and efficiently.
  • Support planning and execution of scaffold erection, modification, and dismantling or surface preparation, coating application, touch-ups, and finishing work as directed by Foreman.
  • Ensure all scaffold work is completed in compliance with OSHA standards, company policies, and client specifications.
  • Conduct daily job site hazard assessments and support enforcement of strict safety practices.
  • Lead toolbox talks when assigned and communicates safety expectations to crew members.
  • Coordinate manpower, tools, materials, coatings (for painting tasks), and equipment as required for assigned scaffold or painting operations.
  • Assist in inspecting surface preparation, coating applications, and scaffold structures to ensure quality, coverage, stability, integrity, safety compliance, and adherence to project standards.
  • Communicate daily progress, delays, and jobsite issues to Foreman.
  • Ensure crew productivity and quality standards are met on all assignments.
  • Train and mentor helpers and less experienced workers in safe painting, surface preparation, and scaffold practices.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at all times.
  • Immediately correct unsafe acts or conditions on the jobsite.
  • Ensure all work meets client specifications and company expectations.

 

Qualificationsย 

  • 3+ years of experience in industrial painting, coating, surface preparation, scaffolding, industrial construction, or related craft work.
  • Minimum 1+ year in a leadership role (Helper Lead, Crew Lead, or similar).
  • Strong knowledge of scaffold erection, modification, and dismantling procedures, as well as surface preparation methods, coating systems, and industrial painting procedures.
  • Solid understanding of OSHA safety standards and fall protection requirements.
  • Experience working in industrial environments such as refineries, plants, or construction sites.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and follow job scopes, safety plans, and basic construction drawings and instructions, as well as a strong understanding of paint specifications.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work in fast paced, high pressure environments.
  • Valid driverโ€™s license (preferred or required depending on site).
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
  • TWIC Card (preferred or required depending on project).
  • NCCER Certification or equivalent (preferred or willingness to obtain).
  • Basic Plus (preferred depending on site requirements).
  • Employment Authorization Document (EAD) if required.

 

Preferred Experience

  • Industrial scaffolding and/or industrial painting experience in refineries, plants, or construction sites.
  • Experience assisting Foreman with scaffold erection, structural setups, or industrial painting/coating projects.
  • Turnaround/shutdown project experience involving scaffold access systems and/or surface coating work.
  • Experience working at heights, elevated work platforms, and active industrial environments.
  • Multi-craft coordination experience on industrial job sites (scaffold, paint, maintenance, or related trades).
  • Large industrial site experience with exposure to multiple crews and simultaneous field operations.

Work Condition & Physical Requirement

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The Leadman Paint works primarily in field environments with active involvement in painting and coating operations. This position requires continuous presence on job sites including construction sites, refineries, plants, shutdowns, maintenance projects, and industrial facilities where surface preparation, coating application, and finishing work are performed.

 

JOBSITE EXPOSURE: Work conditions may include exposure to outdoor weather, extreme temperatures, loud noise, heavy equipment, elevated work areas, scaffold erection activities, surface preparation, coating application, and active construction or industrial installation zones. Exposure to hot work permit environments and fire watch conditions may be required when applicable. The Leadman is directly involved in painting and coating activities under the direction of the Foreman.

 

SCHEDULE DEMANDS: This position may require long hours, early starts, overtime, shutdown schedules, and occasional weekend work depending on project demands, operational priorities, and travel may also be required.

 

LEADERSHIP DEMAND: Physically and mentally demanding role requiring strong support, leadership, communication, and the ability to assist in guiding crews and maintaining productivity in a fast-paced field environment.

 

ORIENTATION: Must be able to successfully complete all required Resilience Corp LLC and client site specific orientation, safety training, and compliance requirements before beginning work.

 

HEAVY WORK: Must be able to safely lift up to 50 pounds from floor to waist and up to 35 pounds from waist to above shoulder level on a regular basis.

 

CLIMBING: Must be capable of ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, and elevated structures, including heights exceeding 100 feet, while maintaining three-point contact and following all fall protection procedures.

 

LADDERS: Using vertical ladders frequently up to 100 feet Activity may exist up to 60% of the work shift depending on project scope.

 

STAIRS & RAMPS: Using stairs or ramps occasionally up to 100 feet Activity may exist up to 40% of the work shift depending on site conditions.

 

BALANCING: Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling while walking, standing, crouching, or working on elevated or unprotected surfaces while using required fall protection equipment. Frequently Activity may exist up to 60% of the work shift.

 

STOOPING: Bending body downward and forward by bending at the waist, requiring full use of leg and back muscles on a repetitive basis. Frequently Activity may exist up to 60% of the work shift.

 

KNEELING: Bending legs at the knee to come to rest on one or both knees. Occasionally Activity may exist up to 40% of the work shift.

 

CROUCHING: Bending the body downward and forward by bending legs and waist. Frequently Activity may exist up to 60% of the work shift.

 

REACHING: Extending hands and arms in all directions to handle materials, tools, or equipment safely. Frequently Activity may exist up to 60% of the work shift.

WEATHER EXPOSURE: Must be able to work outdoors in varying atmospheric conditions, including extreme heat, cold, humidity, wind, and changing weather. Exposure may exist for extended portions of the work shift.

 

PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT: Must be able to properly wear and use all required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, respirators, hearing protection, and fall protection equipment for extended periods throughout the work shift. This includes scaffold-specific PPE and safety gear required for active scaffold erection, modification, and dismantling activities in support of field operations.
